Procedures and Specialties

Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery/Cosmetic Vaginal Surgery

Dr. Stepp trained in obstetrics and gynecology and completed three years of specialized training in advanced pelvic reconstructive surgery, becoming part of the first class of Board-Certified Pelvic Reconstructive Surgeons in the U.S. With over 20 years of experience in cosmetic and reconstructive gynecology, he has delivered more than 500 babies and understands the changes that can result from childbirth and aging.

Dr. Stepp frequently collaborates with plastic surgeons such as Dr. Beck for cosmetic procedures but emphasizes the functional restoration offered by treatments like labiaplasty, vaginal rejuvenation, and vaginoplasty. He uses specialized techniques in his Mommy Intimate Makeover™ to restore the appearance and function of vaginal structures, tighten vaginal muscles, and enhance intimacy. Committed to patient collaboration, he ensures optimal support, function, and appearance in his approaches.

Labiaplasty/Labia Minora Reduction/Labia Majora Reduction

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure aimed at reducing or enhancing the appearance of the labia minora. Women often seek this surgery due to discomfort, pain, or self-consciousness caused by issues like tissue tugging. Common reasons include discomfort during biking or sexual intercourse.

The procedure's primary goal is to improve the shape and volume of the labia minora so they do not extend below the labia majora while also correcting asymmetry and length.

Various surgical techniques are available, and Dr. Stepp will assess your specific needs to find the most suitable option. Studies show that over 90 percent of patients report satisfaction after the procedure.

Vaginal Rejuvenation/Vaginoplasty And Perineoplasty

A rejuvenation vaginoplasty is a procedure that tightens the vagina, while perineoplasty Reconstruction can restore the perineum. While some women may prefer non-invasive methods like radiofrequency or laser treatments, others might choose surgical options. Evaluation of pelvic organ prolapse is crucial for optimal results. Dr. Stepp emphasizes the importance of having vaginal reconstruction performed by a board-certified urogynecologist or reconstructive pelvic surgeon specialized in prolapse and cosmetic procedures.

Various techniques are available based on patient needs, often involving the tightening of separated muscles, removal of excess mucosal skin, and addressing external skin for aesthetics. Outcomes of vaginoplasty typically include a tighter vaginal canal, which may enhance sexual satisfaction for both partners.

Clitoral Hood Reduction

The clitoris is a highly sensitive organ located at the top of the vulva, rich in nerve endings, making it responsive to touch and stimulation. While the visible part, the clitoral glans, is about the size of a pea, the entire structure extends internally and is larger. It is protected by the clitoral hood, which also produces lubrication to enhance arousal and reduce friction during sexual activity.

In some cases, the clitoral hood may be overly large or fail to retract during arousal, leading to discomfort. Clitoral hood reduction surgery is a cosmetic procedure that addresses these concerns for aesthetic reasons or to alleviate discomfort. As with any surgery, it carries risks such as infection, scarring, altered sensation, and dissatisfaction with results.
