How Tummy Tuck Surgery Is Performed

A full tummy tuck is performed under general anesthesia at our accredited Waverly Surgery Center and may take up to five hours, depending on the extent of correction.

The Surgical Steps

Dr. Beck makes an incision from hip to hip along the pubic hairline, positioned low so it stays hidden beneath a bikini or underwear. Through this incision, he repairs sagging or separated abdominal muscles, then removes excess fat and loose skin from the mid and lower abdomen. The remaining skin is redraped for a flatter, tighter contour, and the incisions are closed with sutures placed to minimize visible scarring. In many cases, the belly button is repositioned to look natural on the newly flattened abdomen.

You may have small drains to remove excess fluid and will be fitted with a compression garment. The garment reduces swelling and helps the skin adhere smoothly to your new shape.
