Radiesse is a dermal filler used mainly on the face and hands to add volume and help reduce the appearance of age-related wrinkles. Results are immediate and long lasting. What makes Radiesse dermal filler unique is that it also stimulates the production of your body’s natural collagen for continuing skin volume, beauty and firmness.

How Does Radiesse Work?

Radiesse is composed of Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres inside a gel carrier. When it is injected it immediately creates increased volume in the area treated. This will treat sunken or sagging facial features immediately, but Radiesse continues to work by triggering the body to produce more of its own collagen – the predominant structural protein responsible for skin firmness and lift. Eventually Radiesse is safely absorbed by the body but leaves behind the natural collagen. A single treatment with Radiesse can last more than a year in many patients.

Where Can Radiesse Be Injected?

Radiesse is FDA-approved for use in moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. It can be the dermal filler of choice to treat the following signs of aging:

  • Nasolabial folds (smile lines). These run from the corners of the nose to the corner of the mouth.
  • Marionette lines. Downward lines from the corners of the mouth to chin.
  • Corners of the mouth that have become “turned down” and give a frowning appearance.
  • Pre-jowl folds. This is the area on either side of the chin that develops sag and wrinkles when the face begins to lose volume. Rejuvenating the pre-jowl fold can make a big, though subtle and natural-looking difference.
  • Chin wrinkles. Chin creases and wrinkles can be smoothed with Radiesse.

The Radiesse Difference

Radiesse is the only injectable dermal filler that is made from calcium-based microspheres, which has been shown in clinical studies to stimulate the body’s natural production of collagen. Radiesse comes with a high patient satisfaction rate as compared to several other leading fillers and typically requires as much as 30% less gel to get the job done than other fillers.

What is the Radiesse Treatment Like?

This treatment is fast, often something that can be done on a short break from work, and has no downtime. Although the treatment produces minimal discomfort, sensitive and anxious patients can ask for the anesthetic lidocaine to be mixed with the gel for additional comfort and pain reduction.
