What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that involves the use of a device with fine needles to create tiny, controlled injuries on the skin's surface. This process stimulates the skin's natural healing response, promoting collagen and elastin production. The resulting improved skin texture and tone make microneedling in Charlotte, NC, effective for addressing issues like fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and overall skin rejuvenation.

We provide Exceed Microneedling from Candela, a device that offers enhanced versatility in treating facial wrinkles, scars, or other concerns. Each treatment achieves dramatic results with minimal downtime.

What to Expect During Microneedling

Treatment sessions with the Candela Exceed system take only an hour to complete. Before the procedure begins, your skin will be cleansed and a numbing cream will be applied. Once your skin is numb, the cream will be removed and the procedure will begin. The handheld microneedling device will pass over your skin multiple times, creating tiny punctures into the dermis. You’ll feel it, but the numbing cream will help. The majority of patients find microneedling to be very tolerable. No heat is applied during the treatment, with almost no risk of hyperpigmentation. We recommend a series of microneedling treatments to build on your new collagen and get the best results.

Microneedling with PFRM

Microneedling in Charlotte, NC can be performed alone, or you can add PFRM to speed up natural healing and recovery time, trigger cell regeneration, and enhance results. PRFM is unique and elevates the microneedling treatment. A combination of PFRM and microneedling is among the most effective non-surgical anti-aging procedures available.

The difference between PRFM and PRP

PRFM is derived differently than PRP. Like PRP (platelet-rich plasma), PRFM (platelet-rich fibrin matrix) is taken from your own blood. Your plasma contains platelets that are rich in growth factors. With PRF, the plasma is separated from the blood in a slower centrifuge than it is during PRP separation. This protects the platelets from damage and allows some of the white blood cells and stem cells to remain in the treatment substance. This is why PRFM contains more healing factors.

These growth factors repair and regenerate skin tissue and help with the production of collagen and elastin. When used in concert with microneedling, PFRM helps the skin become even healthier, firmer, tighter, and more youthful.

What happens during microneedling with PRFM?

Your blood will be drawn, then placed into a centrifuge (spinning machine) to purify and separate the PFRM. This will then be applied to your skin during microneedling for enhanced results. The application of PRFM accelerates the skin-regenerating effect, softens fine lines and wrinkles, improves pore size, enhances skin texture, and triggers higher levels of collagen and elastin production.

Recovery from Microneedling

Although there are no physical restrictions after a microneeding treatment, your skin will be inflamed afterward. It will be pink and perhaps scratchy-looking for one to two days, and you may also experience pinpoint bleeding for an hour or so. Avoid using anything on your skin for the rest of the day in order to get the best benefits from microneedling.

Results

You will see smoother, more radiant skin within days after your procedure. The increased collagen and elastin that is triggered during treatment develops over time, continuing to regenerate for four to six weeks following your treatment. This new collagen looks better and better when it’s built upon, which is why multiple treatments are recommended.
